This precisely designed framework of metal arms can be fitted around a sculpture to measure relationships between given points three-dimensionally. It allows these measurements to be transferred from a model made of clay, wood, plaster, etc. to a block of wood or stone that can then be carved by machine or hand. This method of duplicating intricate sculpture has been used for centuries. Each of the carvings in our stone gallery has been completed using this pointing machine.
Made of stainless steel, aluminum and brass the machine comes fully assembled and ready to use. The standard vertical arm measures 24". The transversal arm measures 15". Custom length arms can be ordered upon request.
There are no instructions accompanying this machine. A complete explanation of its use can be found in the book Barron's Sculpture in Stone (ISBN: 0764154249).
