Philippe has updated his popular hand-made planes tool by sharpening the smaller end to facilitate finer detail work. He uses it to define the planes in the initial stages of his sculptures. Each is crafted at his New York studio from domestic hardwood. The ergonomic handle makes it a very comfortable sculpting tool to use when modeling in clay. Two coats of varnish are applied for ease of use and to extend the life of the tool.
