2021 Workshops Posting Soon
In this production, Philippe Faraut demonstrates modeling hands, feet, the arm and leg in water-based clay. The primary goal of these exercises is to encourage the artist to learn and understand the use of planes in the construction of complex forms. It includes the explanation of simple armatures and how to use specific tools at each step during the modeling process. These tutorials are companions to chapters 5-7 from Faraut’s book Figure Sculpting: Volume 1.
Run time: 97 minutes

10” (25.5 cm) tall each
This female hand and male hand set was sculpted by Philippe Faraut (not life casts) to show the stylization necessary when representing the hands in three dimension. Cast in durable plaster.
10.25” (26 cm) tall
This life-size male foot sculpted by Philippe Faraut helps the artist visualize and understand the concept, as well as the importance, of developing the major planes of a three-dimensional model. Part of the foot is represented in planes and part is finished. Cast in durable plaster.
